Safe Disposal of Hazardous Household Materials in Lakeland

November 30, 2014 by Mike Mitchel

Safe Disposal of Hazardous Household Materials LakelandWhen it comes to knowing and understanding what entails proper garbage disposal. A lot of people are challenged, either due to ignorance or simply because they assume that it is something that only industries have to worry about. The truth is that approach of reduce, re-use and recycle is something that every person needs to learn. Virtually every household has garbage, and some of it is hazardous. Which poses a danger when not properly disposed. In order to sustain an eco-friendly and sustainable environment, proper garbage disposal must be learned and practiced by everyone.

Most of the products that we use in our day-to-day lives pose serious threats to the environment when improperly disposed. The household items that we use are need it, however, they are made of materials which are severely problematic to the environment. Especially when they are not discarded properly. Most people, when they are done using their household products, simply throw them away in the garbage container or dispose the products down the drain. This is a dangerous practice, not just for the environment but also ourselves. By simply throwing and pouring these products down the drain, we expose our food, water and air to dangerous chemicals. These may cause serious repercussions later on. Throwing hazardous waste in the garbage container also exposes the garbage handler to various health risks. A great option when it comes to disposing of hazardous waste are roll-off dumpsters, which many people are reluctant to use despite their obvious benefits.

Electronic items are some of the common household items that must be disposed correctly. Unused, faulty and broken down appliances and devices, also referred to as e-waste, need to be dumped in such a way that they do not pose an environmental threat. Most people usually throw away unused or broken electronic gadgets, without paying attention to the fact that these do not disintegrate. They will lie around for years, polluting the environment. Some people go one (dangerous) step farther and burn down their e-waste. People that are burning their e-waste are causing the environment far more harm than just throwing it out. This is due to dangerous and potentially poisonous fumes that get into the air that we breathe. With the increasing consumption of electronic gadgets, which keeps rising, it is terrifying to think of what would happen if everybody decided to burn down the gadgets and devices they no longer require.

It is also important to realize that burning e-waste is one way of inviting an explosion, which may cause bodily harm to yourself and those around you. The best way to deal with the cell phones, computer parts and other appliances that no longer need or use is to dump them in rental dumpsters that recycle e-waste. Many rental dumpster companies have realized the need to inspire more people to practice environmental friendly garbage disposal and have introduced a cash incentive towards the same. What this means is that these companies will offer you a cash refund if you dispose your e-waste in their dumpsters.

Other hazardous household waste that you should dump in your rental dumpster include motor oil, fertilizers, medicines, pests sprays, household sprays and basically anything else that is not biodegradable. All you need to do is get approval from your local dumpster company. It may seem like a lot of work compared to simply stashing everything in your garbage container, but when you think of the favor you are doing for yourself, your loved ones, generations to come and the environment, it is definitely worth a trouble. Next time, you throw away that kitchen appliance that you no longer require, ask yourself whether you know someone who might need it. If your answer is no, find a dumpster rental company and take your appliance there.

The only way to maintain a clean environment is that everyone is conscious of decisions they make regarding their immediate environment. Don’t just throw away your waste absentmindedly. Take time to make a conscious decision that will not be detrimental to yourself, your environment and even the people around you.

Forms of Renewable Energy Sources

October 19, 2014 by Mike Mitchel

forms of renewable enrgyThe typical energy resources currently in use include non-renewable sources that will not last forever. In fact, we have already used up a large percentage of the earth’s non-replenishing resources. This is having a profound destructive effect on our economy and the  environment. We at Lakeland Dumpster Rental are pro all renewable sources and technologies.

However, recent research has increased the interest in lower-cost renewable energy resources that do not harm the earth’s environment. These resources include solar, wind, organic matter, geothermal and water.

The sun is a direct energy resource, and an indirect resource for most of the other types of renewing resources. The energy of the sun is used to produce electricity that keeps our families, our businesses, and even our towns up and running. It is used to heat water and cool air. Solar power is a type of renewable energy that can be harnessed all over.

The sun warms the air and stirs up wind, which is another type of renewable energy. Wind farmers use turbines or windmills, to grab energy from the wind. They  run farms, households. It is useful to a local and global industries. When wind and sun cause evaporation, rain and snow are the results. The water fills and moves along our flowing waters where it can be used as hydroelectric energy.

Another type of renewable energy is biomass. Energy from biomass comes from organic matter, which grows and develops from sun and water. The bio-energy we receive from biomass makes fuels, chemicals, and electricity. Bbio-energy, or life energy, is a resource that continues to renew year after year.

The sun is not involved with geothermal energy. Geothermal energy comes from the heat inside of the earth. Energy from beneath our feet will heat our water, keep our homes and other structures nice and cool, and produce electricity.

Then, there are ocean energies. The majority of our beautiful planet is covered by the world’s oceans, and these contain more than one way of providing renewable energy. Gravity causes tides, the winds and tidal pulls create waves. This is referred to as wave energy. We can also capture energy from the sun-heated parts of the ocean.

People have consumed and continue to consume precious, non-renewable energy resources. Our energy consumption is not only stripping the earth of its natural resources, it puts toxic particles into our air and water, which hurts all life on earth. We can stop hurting our environment by switching over to renewable types of energy.

Energy resources that renew are good for the economy. When people and corporations invest in renewable energy, most of the profits go back into the helping the local economy, rather than profiting commercial operations and industries on the other side of the globe. Renewable energy jobs are more secure than jobs in oil or coal. Renewable energy never depletes, but it must be harnessed, equipment will always be necessary, and although it does do most of the renewing on its own, it must be supervised.

The truth of the matter is that non-renewable energy sources will eventually run out. If we do not switch over to the renewable energy sources we will leave an injured and scarred world for our descendants. Make no mistake, there is such thing as too late.

At lakelanddumpsterrental.net we have been committed to ecological efforts like recycling and also renewable sources of energy if at all possible.
